AED

Saint Joseph School is equipped with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).  Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S.   It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere and at any age.   An AED is the only effective treatment for restoring a regular heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest and it is designed for the layperson to operate.

The AED is located in clearly marked wall mounted cabinet just outside the School Nurse’s Office.  The majority of the staff participated in an AED training given by the Holbrook Fire Department.  The Saint Joseph School Nurses, cafeteria staff and many other faculty members are fully CPR/AED certified.

If you are interested in getting certified, please visit the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association websites to find training in your neighborhood.
